Embroidered Overdress - An Update

I have been absent from projects due to moving across town into a new, larger home. And after months of unpacking and nesting into my new space, I have been very happy to pick up the needle again. I have lots of projects written down! I just need to magically create the time to work on them all. That is a challenge I think we all face!

My embroidered over dress was made with the concept that I could work on it little by little and still be able to wear it to events between updates. This has made it a more relaxing and fun piece where I can work at my own pace when life gets too busy. But I still have a usable garment that will keep evolving. This autumn I was able to put TWO new roundels on the border of the dress.


The two columbines on the front really filled the border out and have me exited to keep going. Columbines are part of my heraldry and my badge so they were a natural fit:



I have started sketching the two pieces for the back roundels and am planning for the four more on the sides. I have other projects and some largesse planned that I can work on in between. I tend to get burned out with large pieces and this has been a very forgiving piece. I know I can keep adding on if I wish even beyond the roundels!
